This sample is positive for evidence of DNA for Herpes Simplex Virus Type-2. There is no evidence of DNA for Herpes Simplex Virus Type-1.

Comment: These molecular genetic findings suggest the diagnosis of infection by Herpes Simplex Virus Type-2. Since there are potentially serious consequences of Herpes Simplex Virus Type-2 infection, current guidelines recommend the importance of testing the sexual partners of individuals positive for Herpes Simplex Virus Type-2 DNA, regardless of the presence or absence of clinical symptoms.
