HUMAN PAPILLOMA VIRUS TEST RESULTS BY PCRDate Reported: 1/30/2008

HPV TypeCP6108
RiskLow
This sample is positive for the following HPV type(s) (CP6108). This HPV infection is considered a low risk for development of dysplasia or neoplasia of the anogenital tract.  HPV of the anogenital tract is a sexually transmitted disease with implications for the development of organ specific cancers such as cervical carcinoma. The diagnosis of dysplasia and cancer are based on the morphologic assessment of the Pap smear or tissue obtained from biopsy.

HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS DETECTION & GENOTYPING ASSAY BY PCRDate Reported: 1/29/2008

HSV, TYPE 1Positive
HSV, TYPE 2Not Detected
This sample is positive for evidence of DNA for Herpes Simplex Virus Type-1. There is no evidence of DNA for Herpes Simplex Virus Type-2.

Comment: These molecular genetic findings suggest the diagnosis of infection by Herpes Simplex Virus Type-1. Since there are potentially serious consequences of Herpes Simplex Virus Type-1 infection, current guidelines recommend the importance of testing the sexual partners of individuals positive for Herpes Simplex Virus Type-1 DNA, regardless of the presence or absence of clinical symptoms.
