Treponem Pallidum: Positive T. pallidum is the etiologic agent of venereal syphilis. PCR detects the 16S rRNA of T. pallidum and represents a sensitive method for the detection of the organism. Serious consideration should be given to verification with MHA-TP or similar serum studies.
