Dermatopathology

Dermatopathology is the study of cutaneous diseases. Dermatopathology helps identify neoplasms (e.g. melanoma, squamous cell carcinoma) from skin biopsies, also inflammatory diseases (e.g. psoriasis, eczema), systemic disorders (e.g. connective tissue disorders, pemphigus vulgaris), infectious diseases (e.g. herpes, scabies, fungal infections), and metabolic disorders (e.g. hyperlipidemias, amyloidosis). It is very important that your biopsy is processed and the diagnosis is accurate so that the proper treatment can be received.
